A HOT HOLLOWAY WINS KEYSBOROUGH SENIORS
Michael Holloway from The National
Golf Club fired a one under par 72 to take out the opening event of the
2010 Victorian Seniors Doug Bachlli Trophy at the immaculately presented
Keysborough Golf Club.
Despite periods of rain, hail and a
strong southerly front during the morning, Holloway played amazingly
steady golf going out in even par and coming home in one
under.
A recognized top putter, Holloway
rolled in birdies at the 2nd, 6th, 10th
& 16th on the near flawless Keysborough greens. Although
threatening in several events in 2009 and finishing in the Top 10 in the
OOM, this is Holloway’s maiden win on the Victorian Seniors
Tour.
Runner up on even par 73 was
evergreen Chirnside Park pennant player Ray Walker, followed closely by
John Ashby (Sandhurst) 74, Alan Bullas (Commonwealth) 75 and Colin Goon
(Yarra Yarra) 76.
Nett winner was John Ashby (5) 69,
with Colin Goon runner up on 71.
The next two events on the
circuit will be over 36 holes, with the Surfcoast Senior Amateur
played at The Sands Torquay February 1st- 2nd, and the second
at Lonsdale Golf Club February 4th -5th – entries are
still open so contact the VGA Office for details.
