Cobram Borooga’s Ross Percy has made a dream start to this year's Doug Bachli Trophy with his second win in as many starts after the completion of the Lonsdale Senior Amateur today.
Percy fired rounds of 75, 72 for a 5 over par 147 total to secure a three stroke victory over Sands Club Captain Campbell Muller. Tied for the lead after round one, Percy’s second round was mixed with flair and the dramatic. His round included birdies at the 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, and 16th but was haltered by double bogeys at the 5th and 12th.
The week of golf is great preparation for Percy who now leaves to compete in New Zealand for the Australian Senior Team.
The Sands Campbell Muller won the nett section for the second successive event. After nett scores of 72, 69 at his home course in the Surfcoast Senior Amateur, Muller bettered his total with 69, 69 for a 138 total at Lonsdale to defeat Ross Percy (Cobram Barooga) and Neville Wright (Leongatha) who tied for second on 141.
Wright shot his age in the first round with a 73 gross which produced a nett 65. A fantastic effort that was commended by all entrants at the event.
The next event on the Doug Bachli Schedule is the Cranbourne Senior Amateur. March 15th – 16th. Entries are available and may be lodged through the VGA Office. For further details contact the VGA on (03) 9889 6731.
