Cobram Barooga's Ross Percy has successfully defended his 2010 title
today at Lonsdale Golf Club. Percy took out the event by two strokes
after shooting rounds of 73 and 76. John Wheeler shot a two over par 74
to record the best round of the day and sneak in to second spot on
countback from 2009 winner Thomas Warren.
Percy has emulated 2010 by defending his titles at both the Surf
Coast and Lonsdale senior events.
The Nett event was won by Russell Simcock from Kingston Heath with a
Nett 73 & 69. Simcock won by 4 strokes from Wayne Aigner, John
Wheeler & Peter Bence.

At the half way mark, it is Cobram
Barooga’s ever present Ross Percy who leads the field by one shot
over Thomas Warren from Queenscliff.
In near perfect, though humid conditions,
the Lonsdale course presented beautifully. Percy fired an
impressive one over par 73 with Thomas a shot further back with a 74.
Neville Wright from Cranbourne and Guy Krall, Yarra Yarra are not far
off the pace both shooting 76s.
Neville Wright, playing of a handicap of 8, takes a 5 shot lead into the
concurrent nett event and is the only player in the field in red figures
with an outstanding 68.
Friday shapes up for plenty of excitement possibly with a few sore heads
following a wonderful carvery dinner served up by the excellent staff at
Lonsdale Golf Club.
