Victorian Amateur Championship
Event Profile
The Amateur Championship is the most prestigious
event on the Association's golf calendar, outside of the Victorian Open.
First played in 1899, the 2010 Championship represented 111 years since
the inaugural title and is the 102nd time the event has been
contested.
The event has produced 64 separate winners. The Hon. Michael Scott
and Commonwealth's Eric Routley jointly hold the record for the most
titles won with 6. Scott won his titles in a 7 year stretch from 1904 to
1910 whilst Routley claimed his first title in 1952, followed up with 3
in succession from 1958 - 1960 and won further titles in 1963 and
1966.
