GV Women's Captains' & Presidents' Day

The GV Women’s Captains' & Presidents' Day provides an opportunity for women who serve clubs as committee members the opportunity to play golf and exchange ideas with women from other clubs who performs similar roles. At the same time, it is an opportunity for Golf Victoria to thank all the women whose contribution helps GV to communicate important event information to other club members and/or to deliver GV events at their clubs.

This event is also the occasion to present the trophies for the Mona Macleod Brooch winners, which is an event that is well supported by all clubs across the State.

The event will include a post lunch meeting. During this meeting the attendees will be informed about changes in the conditions of 2017 Women’s events and discuss matters related to the women’s golf.

Format: 18-Hole Canadian Foursomes Stableford
Eligibility: Current Women's Captain and President. In the event that either the Captain and/or President are unable to attend, another member of the Committee/Board of the club may be nominated.
Entry Fee: $45 per person (Golf & Lunch/Meeting), $35 per person (Lunch/Meeting Only) - both inc GST

Note: Maximum field for golf of 100 players, entries taken on as received basis.

Over 40 Victorian Clubs were represented at the 2017 Women’s Captains’ & Presidents’ Day held at Rosanna Golf Club today (Monday 27 November) as overcast skies and drizzle cleared to another beautiful Melbourne day.

The purpose of the day is to thank the women’s members of the club committees for their efforts in supporting & promoting women’s golf at their respective clubs. In addition, Golf Victoria provides a detailed presentation that includes an outline of the State women’s program for 2018 plus other items of golf significance including the proposed R&A/USGA proposed World Handicap System with feedback being sought via Golf Australia.

Prior to lunch and the meeting of attending club representatives, a Canadian Foursomes event was played over the superbly presented Rosanna layout which was won by the Settlers Run pair of Heidi Haringcaspel and Leonie Mahon with 37 points from a handicap of 16. Barham’s Jane Wall and Liz Storm were runners-up with 35 points from a seven handicap.

Congratulations to all winners and Golf Victoria expresses its sincere thanks to Rosanna Golf Club for supporting the annual event provision of greatly appreciated course access, post golf lunch hospitality and meeting arrangement.

Golf was followed by a presentation luncheon for both the morning event and trophies for The Mona MacLeod Brooch. The Brooch is a State-wide competition, first played for in 1961 and named in honour of one of Victoria’s greatest players, Miss Mona MacLeod. The 2017 winners were:

Silver Metropolitan Division: Ann Manuell (Kew) -6 c/b

Silver Country Division: Glenda Warren (Drouin) -4

Bronze Metropolitan Division: Denise Nachar (Spring Valley) -5

Bronze Country Division: Rhonda Alexander (Cobden) -4
