Royal Women's Hospital 4BBB

23 October 2017

The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) 4BBB Stableford Competition is a state-wide competition that raises funds to purchase new equipment and the training of specialist for the pelvic-floor dysfunction unit at the RWH. The event commenced in 2005 to commemorate the centenary year of Women’s Golf Victoria. All funds raised through this event are donated to the RWH Foundation.

In 2006, Mrs. Judy Onto then President of Women's Golf Victoria presented a cheque totalling $40,650 to Dr Marcus Carey from the RWH. This amount was raised via entry fees from over 9000 women who played in the 2006 RWH 4BBB event, and through the sale of Address Books, to mark 100 years of women's golf in Victoria.

From 2006 to 2016 the 4 Ball Best Ball plus the Annual Charity Day events have raised over $200,000 for the hospital through the participation and donations of approximately 25,000 Victorian women golfers.

Thank you to all clubs across Victoria who have graciously supported this event to raise funds and awareness of the outstanding work that the Royal Women’s Hospital does. The Golf Victoria initiative to raise funds to support the Royal Women’s Hospital Pelvic Floor unit was initiated in 2006. The top 12 pairs from today’s Metropolitan Final will meet with the winners and runners-up from the District Finals to contest the third and final stage (State Final) at Kew GC on Monday 23 October.

2016 STATE FINAL - The Eastern GC - Monday 24 October

Portland’s Jill Treloar & Barbara Bibby have emerged victorious at today’s State Final of the 2016 Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB. Twenty-nine pairs qualified either through their respective District Finals or the Metropolitan Final to compete in today’s State Final at one of Victoria’s newest layouts, the Greg Norman designed Eastern GC located within the well renowned Yarra Valley region.

In almost perfectly still conditions, Treloar & Bibby returned a nicely combined scorecard on the challenging East Course layout, heading out over the front nine with 22 points before consolidating their round over the closing stretch to take this year’s title by a single point.

In second place, was the Gisborne duo of Jo-Anne McPhee & Melissa Evans who finished the day with a score of 40 points with the Yarra Yarra pair of Anne Hall & Julie Lovett-Tait finishing third with a score of 39 points.

The Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB event commenced in 2005, generously supporting one of the less well funded areas of women’s health: the consequences of and treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction. Susie Rouffignac (Philanthropy Manager - Royal Women’s Hospital) was grateful to accept the donation on behalf of the hospital and gave an informative presentation to all players. The donation from last year went towards the area of research within urogynaecology (pelvic floor unit).

Continuing support from Golf Victoria for the Royal Women’s Hospital in this vital area of women’s health will enable the further development in the training of doctors, developing new treatments and technologies and providing accessible health information to thousands of women around Victoria.

Thank you to all Victorian clubs for your ongoing support of the Royal Women’s Hospital annual 4BBB event and to The Eastern GC for generously hosting the State Final.
