2018 Vic Open Volunteer Golf Day Winners: Laurence Middleton, Faye Wheatley, Janine Rogers & Colin Mosman

As part of National Volunteers Week, Golf Victoria and 13th Beach were again pleased to stage the annual appreciation day on Tuesday 22 May for close to 200 volunteers who assisted with the 2018 Oates Vic Open which was played in early February.

Since undergoing a massive transformation in 2012, the Vic Open has continued to grow and captured the attention of world golf as the only professional event which not only sees men and women competing simultaneously but also playing for equal prizemoney.

A key component of staging this special event is having large numbers of volunteers undertaking vital roles including walker scoring, marshalling, servicing drinks stations, supervising the practice fairway, car parking, bus transfers and carryboard operations. Over 300 people voluntarily assisted with the 2018 Championship and Golf Victoria and 13th Beach is greatly appreciative of the support provided.

With an even bigger event expected in 2019, extra volunteers will be required. Interested persons can register their availability by emailing GV Business and Technical Services Manager, Brian Hill at brian.hill@golfvic.org.au
