Australia has secured a top-five finish at the Queen Sirikit Cup, the women's Asia-Pacific championships, in China.

The Australian team of Karis Davidson, Becky Kay and Alizza Hetherington finished the third and final round with a team total of two-over par.

The Cup was won by South Korea at 12-under, followed by China (-9) , Japan (-7) and Thailand (-3).

Victorian Alizza Hetherington again starred on day three with a three-under par 69, her second three-under score in a row after a faltering start on day one. She had five birdies and two bogeys today, with several other opportunities that went begging.

"I really enjoyed the course and playing in my first international tournament,'' said the Victorian amateur champion. "It was exciting to play on a course that had a LPGA Tour event here only a couple of weeks ago.  Today I really tried to put another good score on the board for our team and country. I am really happy with the way I turned it around after day one."

Davidson was rock solid with a one-over par 73 and Kay had a 78.

Team manager Virginia Irwin expressed pride in the team. "I am very happy with how the team performed today and throughout the entire tournament,'' she said. "We had many opportunities but we were unable convert and gain any momentum. I am sure all players have learnt some valuable lessons not only about playing at a higher level but also travelling internationally. "
