Ebinger and Harley champions at Cranbourne

Cranbourne Winners
L-R: Andrew Hansen, Heather Harley, Helen Drake and Greg Ebinger

Greg Ebinger (Spring Valley) and Heather Harley (Kooringal) are the 2018 Cranbourne Senior Champions after both players proved their consistency over the two round tournament.

Ebinger came from two shots behind overnight shooting 76 in the pristine morning conditions. Ebinger’s total of 154 was one shot clear of round 1 leader John Wheeler (The National), fellow National member Kym Johnson and Eastern’s Andrew Hansen.

Hansen took out the top prize in the nett section with his 147 for the two rounds. Round 1 leader and Cranbourne’s own John Rucinski couldn’t match his opening round as he was beaten by Hansen on a countback. Gary House (Sanctuary Lakes) was the next best, a further shot behind on 148.

Heather Harley held strong in the women’s scratch stableford section finishing with 49, 10 shots ahead of Helen Drake (Dorset). Susan Lush improved on her second round and finished in third place with 38 points.

Helen Drake took out the stableford prize with her score of 57, defeating Elizabeth Alston (Winchelsea) on a countback. Susan Dawson (Devilbend) was close behind with a total of 54.

The best gross score for individuals aged 65 and over went to John Wheeler, whilst the best nett score for 10+ handicappers went to Chris Keeshan (Centenary Park) with nett 152.

After only just completing their club championships on Sunday, Cranbourne was presented beautifully with ideal tournament conditions. Golf Victoria would like to sincerely thank the Cranbourne Golf Club for the exceptional manner in which the tournament was hosted.

The Seniors tour rolls on to Gardiners Run on Thursday for the 2018 Gardiners Run Senior Amateur.
