Handicap checking moves to GA website

Handicap look-up

All Australian golf club members have begun checking their handicap information and scoring history at www.golf.org.au -- the Golf Australia home page.

With more than 115,000 individual golfers checking their handicaps on golf.org.au in the first week, Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt was delighted with the transition.

“The technical aspects have all gone smoothly, but we’re also getting some positive feedback on other features and news available on our home page,” Pitt said.

“We encourage all golfers to look around the website after viewing their handicap to sample our other content and initiatives.”

The handicap look-up functionality is at the top of all pages on the site. Golfers simply enter their GOLF Link number into the box and hit "handicap look-up" to learn of their latest handicap information.

But more than that, Pitt said it was the forerunner to future initiatives.

"It’s a real game-changer for golf in this country that Golf Australia regains the full rights to the GOLF Link program," he said.

"It will allow us to better communicate with golfers around the country and make golf stronger in Australia, so it’s a very important step.

"We will be able to exert more influence on the service we provide to golfers and hopefully give them a great experience as they check movement in their handicap and playing results.

"It will strengthen our ability to invest in golf and help drive our important development programs such as MyGolf and Swing Fit."

Those golfers who use GOLF Link to view their handicaps will be automatically redirected to golf.org.au.
