#INTSERIES: Blues, Vics at it again

It’s the old firm at it again.

The unbeaten New South Wales will face Victoria in this afternoon’s final of the men’s Interstate Series in Perth.

With a series of permutations that kept four states alive until this morning’s final round-robin clashes, Victoria snuffed out Queensland and Western Australia with a 5-2 win over Tasmania, again inspired by the lower order.

Both WA and Queensland needed Tassie to triumph to stay alive, so the hosts bowed out despite a ripping contest with the dominant Blues.

New South Wales, super impressive all week, eventually prevailed 5-2, but the match was in the balance throughout.

Similarly, Queensland and South Australia had a great tussle, perhaps highlighted by young Aelaide star Jackson Kalz’s “walk-off” eagle when he canned a 91m gap wedge on his 13th hole, the first at Melville Glades, for a 6&5 victory.

But the young Maroons responded well and fought back for a 4&3 victory, unfortunately leaving them in third position, a contest out of the final.

Western Australia’s loss consigned it to fourth, with Tasmania fifth, SA sixth and the Northern Territory seventh.
