Kalz kills on a day of ups and downs

2017 Victorian Boys Junior Masters winner Jackson Kalz will take a barnstorming lead into tomorrow’s final round of the Junior Victorian Open. Kalz’s consistency over the past three days has been exceptional with the 17-year old being the only player in the entire field to break 70 in all rounds. As many players struggled in the gusty conditions, the South Australian fired a very impressive three-under par 69 to take home the low round of the day and to be poised proudly at the top of the leaderboard at -11.

Markopolo Fullepp and Antony Majstorovic will need to hit the ground running with early birdies tomorrow morning if they are to have any chance of catching the overnight frontrunner. Both players will start the day eight shots in arrears of Kalz as he looks to secure this year’s title and an exemption into the 2018 Oates Vic Open.

After a scintillating 66 yesterday, Jasper Stubbs relinquished his lead at the halfway mark after signing for a seven over-par 77 at the famed Barwon Heads Golf Club.

Overnight leader Hannah Park held her composure in the challenging winds for a grip on the girls title. Park singed for a round of five over 78 at Barwon Heads this morning to maintain her lead over Yuka Saso at four shots. Both Park and Saso are no strangers to big events, with Park winning the Australian Junior Championships last year and Saso finishing runner-up in the IMG World Junior Championship a few months back. Park was leading this years Australian Junior Championship at Port Kembla Golf Club for 71-holes only to be pipped by New South Wales compatriot Grace Kim on the very last hole.

Not to be discounted in the race to the 2017 Girls Championship are Kai Shipp and Victorian State team member Alizza Hetherington who will start the day six shots back.

The final round will be streamed live and is accessible via the link below.
