Final

The Junior Pennant Final was hld at Wodlands Golf Club today where a team of 6 girls from Victoria played the Kew "Bears". Everything was going Victoria's way early with Tiana Wangasekara winning winning 6/5 from Mikel Eduard. Vic's Captain Mackenzie Millar winning 5/4 from Jasper Guthrie. To secure at least a playoff for the girls was Courtney Henderson's 4/3 win over Yiling Ooi.

The next match went to Kew's Linley Ooi with a 5/4 over Sara Hidayat followed by Abel Eduards win over Kayli Schenck 2/1 on their 17th hole. The final win and to cause a sudden death playoff was Daisuke Nakajima's 3/1 win over Kathleen Newham on their 17th hole.

Jan Jelleff selected Courtney Henderson to represent Victoria and Una Deneffe selected Linley Ooi to play the sudden death playoff down the 1st hole. Henderson was to recieve 2 shots from Ooi on the hole but it was Ooi who ultimately grasped the pennant for Kew. Ooi smashed her drive and then hit her approach to 20 feet before nailing the downhill slider for birdie and the title.

All matches where played in great spirit and showed what junior pennant is all about junior golfers participating, learning and having fun.

Semi Finals

The 2015 Junior Pennant Semi-Final contests were contested today at Spring Valley Golf Club in cool and drizzly conditions. The early showers slowly dissipated to then reveal a gusty southern wind that provided its own set of challenges to the four teams bidding for a berth in the Final.

Victoria Golf Club are one step closer to taking home the silverware for 2015 after defeating number one seed Northern in a nail biting contest. Although the all-girls team finished with a 5-1 victory a number of matches went down to the wire as Northern continued to fight until the end.

Kew Golf Club will also line up in the final following their 4.5-1.5 victory against Patterson River this afternoon. After holding his nerve last week in the all-important deciding match Daisuki Nakajima led his charges once again with a strong 8-6 result in his favour.

The Final will be contested at Woodlands Golf Club this coming Sunday.
