Metropolitan Plate Results

2017 Winners
Paul Fink & Ian Frost

The Metropolitan Plate was played today in beautiful sunshine for the strong field of senior male golfers. The event is in its 12th year and is the fifth event on the August Senior Sandbelt calendar. Tight pins and signature bunkers cut into slick rolling greens proved to be a challenge for the field and was reflected in the overall scoring for the day.

Ian Frost of Rich River GC came in with the best round of the day, shooting a 1 over par 72 to finish 2 shots ahead of Gordon Claney (Kingston Heath GC) and John Wheeler (The National GC). In his speech, Frost labelled The Metropolitan Golf Club one of the best in the world and said the course was presented in magnificent condition.

The nett section was won by Paul Fink (RACV Cape Schank), who also heaped praise on the condition the course was presented in. Fink finished with nett 71 off a handicap of 12. Leigh Bull (The Metropolitan Golf Club) claimed the nett runner-up prize on a countback, finishing with nett 72 off a handicap of 4.

It has been a big week down on the Sandbelt courses with the series wrapping up tomorrow morning at Royal Melbourne on the East Course.
