Victorian Todd SInnott has played one of the best rounds of his summer right when it was needed.

Sinnott, of Melbourne, fired an opening-round eight-under-par 64 to share the lead in the final stage of the Asian Tour qualifying school in Thailand yesterday.

But on a day of hot scoring at the Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club, an incredible 69 players shot 68 or better to keep the heat on the former Golf Australia national squad member.

The 64 was good enough to share the lead with American William Cannon, with veteran Victorian Richard Green also well placed after a 66.

In-form Queenslander Adam Blyth opened with a 67, as did Nathan Miller, of New South Wales.

Junseok Lee, somewhat of a Q-school specialist with three previous victories, fired a 68 to match Sydney amateur Austin Bautista, Scott Barr and Jake Higginbottom and Perth’s Rick Kulacz, who all sit tied 48th.

Marcus Both fired an opening 69, one better than fellow Aussies Martin Dive and Jack Wilson, the winner of the recent first stage of the Asian Tour Q-school to reach this stage.

Nathan Buzimkic, Neven Basic, Brad Smith and Jarryd Felton were all under par after 71s, but find themselves locked in a tie for 122nd.

Unho Park and Adam Groom have work to do after each shot a 73, while David Gleeson has a lot of people to climb past after his 74.
