The President, Board and Staff of Golf Victoria express their deepest sympathy at the passing of much respected former Victorian Men’s State Coach and esteemed golf professional, John Davis, aged 82 years.

A former club professional at the Northern, Croydon (now Yering Meadows) and Kingswood (now Peninsula-Kingswood) Golf Clubs and a Professional Golf Association (PGA) member since 1954, John was a wonderful player, notably winning the Victorian Open in 1974.

He was first named coach of the Victorian Men’s State Amateur Team in 1986 and served in this role until 1989. He was later the Victorian Golf Association Director of Coaching for 13 years undertaking a variety of coaching duties including coordinating training sessions for Victorian Men’s and Boys’ teams as well as coaching at Junior Golf Camps and with Development Squads.
