2017 SOM Winners
Helen Pascoe & Kerry Scales

Helen Pascoe (Buninyong) and Kerry Scales (Port Fairy) have taken out the top honours in the second edition of the Victorian Women’s Senior Order of Merit.

The Men’s Senior Order of Merit began back in 2006 and has developed into a full calendar of events specific to male golfers aged 55 and over. In 2015, the inclusion of a women’s section at a selection of events was trialed and following the successful uptake of participants, a Victorian Women’s Senior Order of Merit was introduced in 2016. In 2017, the senior women’s calendar included 21 events throughout the year and saw 248 unique competitors.

The Victorian Senior Women’s Scratch Trophy is awarded to the player that accrues the highest scratch stableford average through the course of the year. Helen Pascoe (Buninyong) dominated throughout the year, claiming 11 individual victories and finishing on a scratch average of 29.29 points. The next best was Judy Langford of Wodonga on 24.50 points with June Tickell of  Trafalgar in third on 24.36 points.

Kerry Scales (Port Fairy GC) was a newcomer to the women’s senior events, joining the circuit after moving to Victoria last year and showed steady performances over the year to claim the best Stableford average on 32.88 points. Susan Mawhinney (Portsea GC) finished runner-up in the Stableford rankings with an average of 31.30 points and Pascoe was third with 30.83 points.

Congratulations to all the winners and players for their continued support of the Victorian Senior Golf Program. The 2018 schedule is now available above.
