L-R: Helen Pascoe (Buninyong) & Heather Harley (Kooringal)

Helen Pascoe (Buninyong) and Jill Morrison (Midlands) have taken out the top honours in the inaugural Victorian Women’s Senior Order of Merit.

The Men’s Senior Order of Merit began back in 2006 and has developed into a full calendar of events specific to male golfers aged 55 and over. Last year, the inclusion of a women’s section at a selection of events was trialed and following the successful uptake of participants, a Victorian Women’s Senior Order of Merit was introduced in 2016. The inaugural calendar included 22 events throughout the year and saw 256 unique players compete and a total of 403 individual event registrations.

The Victorian Senior Women’s Scratch Trophy is awarded to the player that accrues the highest scratch stableford average through the course of the year. Pascoe dominated throughout the year claiming 12 individual victories and finishing on a scratch average of 28.85 points. Next best was Jill Morrison of Midlands on 23.88 points with Heather Harley of Kooringal in Third on 23.65 points.

Morrison was a newcomer to the women’s senior events, joining the circuit halfway through the year at Tocumwal and showed steady performances in the next 3 events to claim the best Stableford average on 30.50 points. Harley and Pascoe finished second and third behind Morrison, separated by the nearest of margins on 29.96 and 29.73 points respectively.

Congratulations to all the winners and players for their continued support of the Victorian Senior Golf Program. The 2017 schedule is now available above.
