The Doug Bachli Trophy rounds out an incredibly successful year for Claney, who claimed the 2017 Gold Coast Senior Classic, the 2017 NSW Senior Classic and was a member of two victorious teams at state and national level earlier this year. The Victorian Senior Team successfully defended their title at the Australian Men’s Senior Interstate Stroke Teams Event and the Australian Team were again champions at the Australia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship at Royal Adelaide.

Malcolm Barnes of Neangar Park was the Doug Bachli 65+ champion and finished 6th in the overall Doug Bachli rankings.

The Doug Bachli Trophy is named in memory of the late Doug Bachli, who in 1954 famously came from behind at Muirfield to upstage American Walker Cup player Bill Campbell, to become the first Australian to win the British Amateur championship.

The Paul Lulofs Trophy was won this year by John Kelly. The Metropolitan Golf Club member’s solid year was highlighted by his gross title at the Victoria Golf Club Senior Amateur. The Paul Lulofs 65+ Trophy was won by Ignatius Duivenvoorden of Yarram.

The Paul Lulofs Trophy is named in honour of Paul Lulofs. Paul was a passionate golfer who worked tirelessly over many years to promote the sport, especially senior’s golf. Lulofs was the Victorian Caddies Champion in 1957, and enjoyed success at club, state and national level.
